Organisers of the Windsor Half Marathon, which takes place in the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead on Sunday 29th September for the 31st time, are pleased to announce Scope as their first Gold Charity.

A brand new charity structure has been introduced for the 2013 race, allowing charities to get involved on various levels and to use this iconic race as a platform to raise awareness and funds. The Windsor Half Marathon takes place in Windsor’s Great Park, the only Royal Park managed by The Crown Estate, and is run on traffic free roads with some stunning views of Windsor Castle.

Scope, who offers practical support from information services to education and everyday care for disabled people and their families, is the first charity to be announced on the Gold Level.

Windsor Half Marathon Race Director Peter Hier commented: “We are excited to be working with Scope for this year’s Windsor Half Marathon. Being a sell-out race with all public race places expected to be snapped up by the end of April, this is a great event for charities of all sizes to get involved in, and I am pleased to welcome Scope on board.”

Debbie Bines, Head of Event’s at Scope, said:  ‘’We are delighted to be involved in this fantastic and well organised event as a Gold Charity which will raise vital funds for our work to support disabled people.”
